I. THE GHOST IS I

Autor del poema: April 5h, 1912 Amado Nervo English Translation by Isabel Chenot
My soul is a princess in her tower closed 11
gazing on life through five little windows. 12
She is a mournful goddess prisoned by the body. 12
And your soul, which flew before you died, 10
is a brilliant wing, thoroughly freed... 8
You are not the ghost; the ghost is I! 10
What do I understand of things! To me, things offer 13
not what they truly are, but how they appear 11
to the five senses with which God holds at bay 12
my bulky sensorium, my tenuous perceiving. 9
You know all today... I, rather, know nothing! 11
You are not the ghost; the ghost is I! 10
